The Detroit Lakes boys soccer team recorded a tie for the first time this season as they hosted Pelican Rapids in a scoreless stalemate Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Rotary Soccer Park.
Much of the game was a battle in the midfield to get rushes to the net.
The Lakers had the best opportunity in overtime on a free kick just outside the penalty area by Daniel Rosza that sailed over the crossbar.
Trey Seebold recorded the shutout in net for Detroit Lakes which continued an anomalous streak this season. DL has six victories, all by shutout and now one scoreless tie. The Lakers (6-7-1) are 0-7 when the opponent scores.
DL wraps up the regular season Thursday, Oct. 4 at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy. The Lakers defeated the Comets 4-0 at home on Sept. 15.
The Laker girls are on their longest winning streak of the season after sweeping the season series from Hillcrest in a 4-2 victory on the smaller pitch of the Comets Tuesday.
Karrigan Hallisey and Nicole Swanson scored in the first half to give DL a 2-0 lead at the break.
Matteya Borah and Ava Steinmetz added second half tallies to counter a pair from the Comets (7-7-1) for the 4-2 victory.
The Lakers are 10-2-2 heading into a pair of tough matches at home against Bemidji (10-4) Thursday, Oct. 4 in a battle of the top two teams in Section 8A North. The Jacks handed DL their first loss of the season 2-0 Aug. 30 in Bemidji. The regular season wraps at Moorhead (11-3) Saturday, Oct. 6.
