The DL volleyball team evened their Mid-State Conference record at 2-2 and won for the fourth time in five matches after defeating Staples-Motley 3-1

The Lakers made quick work of the Cardinals in the opening set winning 25-15 and followed up with a 25-20 victory in set two looking to sweep.

The Cardinals won a close third set by three points, before the Lakers ended the match swiftly in the fourth by a score of 25-13.

Anna Cihak led the Laker attack with 15 kills and teammates Teeya Doppler and Breanna Price were in double figures with 11 and 10, respectively.

Courtnee Ziegler and Maren Daggett split the load on assists with 23 and 22 sets, respectively. Ziegler had a strong night at the service line with eight aces.

Doppler added a dozen digs; Autumn Kulik had 10.

The Lakers have two tournaments and two matches remaining in the regular season.

DL plays at the Sauk Rapids-Rice tournament Saturday, Oct. 6 before returning for two home games against Hawley Tuesday, Oct. 9 and Moorhead Thursday, Oct. 11. The season wraps and playoff prep begins after a final tournament in Fergus Falls Thursday, Oct. 18.
