DL volleyball dropped four close matches at the Sauk Rapids-Rice tournament Saturday, Oct. 6.
The Lakers were in striking distance in all four games, but lost three in a deciding third set and were swept by the host Storm.
St. Cloud Apollo defeated DL 2-1 in the opening round of pool play (22-25, 25-22, 15-13). Albany nabbed the third set 15-10 in the second match after the teams split 25-19 scores in the first two sets.
Sauk Rapids-Rice won 2-0 by tight scores of 25-23, 25-20 and Annandale gave up the first set to DL 25-22, before sweeping the second and third 25-15 and 15-10.
Teeya Doppler recorded a team-leading 41 kills in four games. Bre Price accounted for 26 and Anna Cihak had 19.
Courtney Ziegler and Maren Daggett had 55 and 31 assists. Doppler led in digs with 25, followed by Autumn Kulik (24) and Faith Keller (15).
The Lakers are 9-11 overall and home for two final regular season games against Hawley (12-8) Tuesday, Oct. 9 and Moorhead (8-7) Thursday, Oct. 11. The season wraps and playoff prep begins after a final tournament in Fergus Falls Thursday, Oct. 18.
