The Laker boys soccer team dropped a sixth straight game falling to Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in overtime 5-3 in a Section 8A contest Saturday, Sept. 14.
Detroit Lakes held a 3-1 lead with two quick goals early in the second half only to give up four unanswered tallies to the Comets despite being up a man after Hillcrest's Hakon Hagerup was sent off with a red card in the 65th minute.
Severing Breck scored in the 71st minute to tie the game and Kristian Maestad booted a pair of goals from long range in the first five-minute overtime period to earn the win.
Maestad scored from 50 yards on a free kick and again from 45 yards out on a Breck assist.
The Comets won for the third straight game to improve to 3-2; the Lakers dropped to 1-6 heading into a home game Tuesday night against Crookston. The Lakers defeated the Pirates 4-0 in Crookston to open the season.
