Wadena-Deer Creek handed the Detroit Lakes volleyball team a second straight loss and continued a dominant decade-long streak against the Lakers in a 3-0 victory Tuesday, Sept. 17 in Wadena.


"Wadena has a good group of girls," DL head coach Lynnsey Machakaire said. "We need to clean up our errors and keep our intensity up, and find a way to finish a match."



The Wolverines have won four straight against DL after the 25-22, 25-18, 25-23 win. Over the past decade, Wadena-Deer Creek is 9-2 in 11 matches against the Lakers.

Kennedy Gravelle and Madison Carsten led the Wolverine attack with 22 and 14 kills, respectively. Gravelle matched the attacking effort of the Lakers. DL had a combined team total of 22 kills.


Courtney Warren had a game-high 22 digs for WDC.


Wadena-Deer Creek improved to 7-4 overall. DL dropped to 5-5 and host the second of five Mid-State Conference matches Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. against Crosby-Ironton (10-5). Both teams are 0-1 in conference play.
