Three fighters from Lakes Area Boxing competed in Wadena Saturday, Feb. 15 picking up two victories.
“These guys have been working hard in the gym and will be picking it up a notch to get ready for our show in Detroit Lakes March 7,” manager Chris Holt said. “These kids are getting hungry to compete more and to get to do it in front of their family and friends will get them to work harder. I am proud of these kids that want to work hard for their accomplishments. I always tell them that your hard work will pay off."
Dalton Bymers (11-years-old) got the win over Willmar Boxing club Mathew Victoria (12) in a 75-pound match.
Tyric Boswell (18) won by decision in a close match with Willmar boxing club’s Tristen Wigton (19) in a 175-pound match.
Quintin Hedlund (8) lost by way of decision to Leech Lake boxing club's Xavier Jackson (8) in a 60-pound fight.
Lakes Area Boxing hosts the return of Golden Gloves to Detroit Lakes at Ralph Anderson Gymnasium for the first time in three years Saturday, March 7. Matches begin at 6 p.m. More information on the fights will be available in a coming feature story.
Fight fans will also get a chance to watch Mixed Martial Arts Saturday, May 2 at Kent Freeman Arena. Tickets are currently on sale at nitrotickets.com.
