Both Detroit Lakes dance teams wrapped up regular season competition at the Frazee invitational Friday, Feb. 19.

The Laker jazz team (7.5) placed third in an eight-team field behind the host Fly Girls in first place (5) and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (5.5).

In kick, the Lakers placed sixth overall in a nine-team field with a rank score of 19.

Bagley earned a perfect score (3) to place first by 4.5 points over Crosby-Ironton. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton finished third (8.5); Frazee was fourth with 11.

Both Laker junior varsity teams were victorious. The JV jazz team was awarded first place finishes from all five judges to finish with a perfect rank score of three. The JV kick team picked up three of five first place votes and finished with a score of four to edge Hawley by one point.

The Section 4AA championships will be held Saturday, Feb. 27 at Sartell High School. The top three teams from sections advance.

State Dance is scheduled to be held at Edina High School on Friday, March 12 (Jazz) and Saturday, March 13 (High Kick). It will be a single-day event for each category with a single dance per day.
