Barlund, Tappe lead Hornet girls over Braves

Kennady Barlund had a big night scoring 33 points and Josi Tappe added 24 as the Frazee Hornets evened their record at 4-4 overall with an 81-64 non-conference girls' basketball victory over Menahga Monday night at Frazee high school.

Frazee has won three of the past four games after dropping three of four to start the season.

Barlund and Tappe did much of the damage on the scoreboard putting up 70 percent of Frazee’s points.

Eighth-grader Olivia Yliniemi led the Braves with 18 points. Shelby Pihlaja scored 15, Hannah Allebach had 14 points.

The Hornets used a big first half to cruise to victory leading 48-21 at the break.

Frazee is off for one week until the Hornets will play game two of a six-game homestand Tuesday, Dec. 30 versus Wadena-Deer Creek. The Wolverines are 0-6.
