The Lakers trailed 1-0 after limiting damage with a nice double play in the top of the third inning. The Patriot lead was short lived as the Lakers answered in the bottom half.

Blaine Henderson was hit by pitch and replaced by courtesy runner Logan Lund at first base. Lund snagged second base with one out. Sully Wood reached on a tough play up the middle to put runners on the corners.

Hermanson hit a sacrifice fly to score Lund and tie the score 1-1. With two outs, Ben Stearns ripped a base hit up the middle to score Wood from second base and a 2-1 lead.

DL added an insurance run with small ball in the fifth when Blaine Henderson reached on a bunt. Hunter Cheska bunted and the Patriots threw the ball into the outfield to bring Henderson around for a 3-1 lead.

The Lakers ran out of the inning when Cheska was gunned down at the plate and Hermanson was caught stealing at second base.

Pequot Lakes loaded the bases with one out in the top of the sixth. Hermanson struck out Nick Kotaska for the second out. The Patriots leadoff hitter Sam Pfeiffer just missed tying the game with a ripped ball just foul down the line. Hermanson ended the threat getting Pfeiffer to ground out to Laker shortstop Sully Wood.

Zack Oistad came in the complete the seventh inning and get the save. Austin Meister took the loss.

Ben Stearns picked up the Lakers’ lone hit in the victory. DL played strong defense committing just one error. Wood and left fielder Stearns each recorded four putouts.

The third inning was a killer for the Lakers as they gave up six runs on just two hits and three errors to fall behind 8-1.

Blake Itzen fell victim to the haphazard defense and took the loss for the Lakers on the mound.
