Crosby-Ironton head coach Dave Galovich became the fifth Minnesota boys basketball coach to reach 700 career victories Thursday as the Rangers defeated the Fond du lac Ojibwe 72-36.
In 39 years, Galovich has amassed a 700-321 career record. He joins Chisholm's Robert McDonald (1,012 career wins), Rocori's Robert Brink (936), Hopkins' Ken Novak Jr. (818) and Mounds View's Ziggy Kauls (739) as coaches who have reached 700 career wins.
C-I was led by Jonathan Jacobson's 23 points in the victory, which was the opening round of the Ranger Classic.
Kyle Skeim added 12 points and eight rebounds and Isaac Burley scored 12 for C-I.
Galovich and the Rangers will be in Detroit Lakes to take on the Lakers Friday, Jan. 12 in the first of two Mid-State Conference meetings this season.
