Otters hand Laker girls first loss

Fergus Falls handed Detroit Lakes their first loss of the season in a 71-42 Section 8AAA girls basketball victory at the Kennedy Secondary School Gold Gymnasium in Fergus Falls Tuesday, Dec. 5.

The Otters built a 20-point lead by halftime going to the break up 37-17.

Ellie Colbeck led all scorers with 20 points; she added six rebounds and four assists.

Lauryn Manning was the lone Laker in double figures with 13 points. Breanna Price scored nine points; Emily Larson added eight.

Three other Otters joined Colbeck in double digits: Sam Evavold scored 13 points; Sabrina Fronning chipped and Lily Pearson each had 11 points.

Fergus Falls improved to 2-1 on the season.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak to open the season for DL (3-1). The Lakers play at Pequot Lakes (2-2) Friday, Dec. 7 in a Mid-State Conference matchup.
