The Detroit Lakes seventh-grade boys Pacesetter basketball team were repeat champions at the Pacesetter Minnesota State Minnesota Invitational Tournament tournament at Maple Grove Middle School Saturday, June 22.

The same team were champions last season in the sixth grade tournament.

Head coach Matt Carrier’s Detroit Lakes team defeated Mountain Lake Comfrey 36-21 and Deer River 40-36 in pool play to advance to the championship game.

The Lakers upended Climax/Ada-Borup/Norman County West 41-29 for the tournament title.

Eight regional Pacesetter tournaments were held with over 650 teams participating in grades 4-9. Region champions advance to the Pacesetter state tournaments.

The teams with only one regional loss play in the MIT.
