Detroit Lakes improved to 5-0 in the Mid-State Conference with a comfortable 80-58 victory at Staples-Motley Thursday evening.

Christian Hedstrom and Ben Hokanson led the Lakers with 19 and 15 points, respectively.

The Lakers hold a 1.5 game lead over Crosby-Ironton (3-1) at the midpoint of the Mid-State season.

Six of the Lakers’ (11-1) dozen opponents have been Class 2A teams, but DL’s numbers are close to the top in four Class 3A categories, including the second best record of all 64 3A teams.

DL currently is a top 10 Quality Results Formula (QRF) team ranked No. 10.
