The Crookston girls' hockey team proved its No. 4 Class 1A ranking to the visiting Detroit Lakes team with an 11-1 victory Tuesday.
The loss drops the Lakers to 6-12-0 on the season, while improving the Pirates to 15-4-0.
Crookston forward Shannon Kaiser had four goals in the game, while Brianna Breiland had two goals and four assists.
The Lakers broke onto the scoreboard in the second period, with Amanda Moore scoring on an Emily Payne assist.
Crookston bolted out to 4-0 first period lead, then added three more in the second and four in the third.

DL goalie Veronica Bardunek had 34 saves, while Veronica Roy came in the third period for four saves. Crookston goalie Rachel Biermaier had 11 saves.
The Lakers will host Moorhead (6-9-2) Thursday for a 7 p.m. start inside Kent Freeman Arena.
