Scheels in Fargo plans to carry new Matt Cullen merchandise as soon as possible.

"A local player is going to be playing for the hometown team, so I think there is definitely going to be excitement for that," Scheels Assistant Store Leader Tony Duerr said.

"As fast as Reebok can get it produced we will try to get them in."

Cullen, a former Moorhead High School standout, signed a three-year, $10.5 million contract with the Minnesota Wild on July 1.

Cullen is a 12-year NHL veteran who has spent most of his career with the Anaheim Ducks and Carolina Hurricanes.

Cullen finished last season with the Ottawa Senators after a midseason trade from Carolina. He scored 16 goals and had 32 assists in 81 games between the two teams.

Cullen had three goals and five assists in Ottawa's six playoff games. The Senators were eliminated by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the postseason.

He was part of the Stanley Cup-winning Hurricanes team in 2006.

Scheels has been working with Reebok to get Cullen merchandise on the shelves, but as of now there is no estimated time of arrival for the products.
