Crosby-Ironton starting pitcher Gwen Rosecrans picked up both victories on the rubber as the Rangers swept Detroit Lakes by scores of 12-2 and 13-10 in a Mid-State Conference softball doubleheader Tuesday, April 20 in Crosby.
Both teams opened with a run each in the first inning of game one.
The Lakers took a 1-0 lead when Siri Vagle reached on a bunt single, worked around the bags and came home on a passed ball.
The Rangers answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game and took control after a scoreless second.
Four runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth gave the home team an 8-1 advantage.

Vagle got DL’s second and only other hit of the game and scored DL’s second run in the top of the fifth.
The Rangers ended the game by mercy rule with four more runs in the bottom half.
Rosecrans started game two and DL got to her for three runs in the first inning.
Ella Okeson and Vagle scored, along with Rachel Kasowski on a RBI hit from Kaylee Smith.
DL led 3-1 after one but the edge was short-lived. The Rangers plated five runs in the second and third innings against a single run from the Lakers in each frame to get up big 11-5 heading to the fourth.
DL responded with three runs in the fourth and a pair in the fifth to cut the deficit to 11-10, but were held scoreless by Rosecrans in the final two innings.
C-I added a pair of unearned insurance runs in the top of the seventh on an error and a passed ball.
DL’s Maddy Bellanger, Hailey Smith and Kaylee Smith had 2 RBI each.

The Rangers improved to 3-1 on the season. DL (0-2) hosts Little Falls (0-1) and Sartell-St. Stephen (2-0) in a Section 8AAA triangular Friday, April 23. The Lakers and Sabres play at 2:30 p.m. DL takes on the Flyers in the nightcap at 6 p.m.
