Zack Oistad collected six hits and Jacob Thomas provided a walk off win as the Detroit Lakes baseball team extended its winning streak to 14 games in a doubleheader sweep of Thief River Falls 6-5 and 12-2 at Washington Park Thursday, May 20.

Tied at 5-all in the bottom of the seventh of game one, Oistad started the winning rally with a one out single. He was lifted for pinch runner Kyler Johnston, who stole second base and scored on a two out, walk off double by Thomas for the 6-5 victory.

The Prowlers led 2-0 after the top of the fourth inning behind a strong start by pitcher Zach Westlund. The Lakers got on the board and took their first lead of the game with three runs in the bottom half.

Thomas doubled in Oistad. Andrew Kulik scored on a wild pitch and Jake Bishop came home on a Bradly Swiers base hit to go up 3-2.

The visitors responded with three runs in the sixth taking a 5-3 lead, but the Lakers tied the game with runs by Thomas and Bishop to go to the seventh deadlocked at five.

Jordan Tucker picked up the victory pitching two innings of relief of starter Blaine Henderson.

Tucker allowed one run on two hits and fanned two. Henderson scattered seven hits, allowing four runs. He walked and struck out three batters.

Oistad was 3-4 with a run scored. Thomas was 2-4 with 2 RBI and one run. Bishop scored twice and was 1-2 at the plate with a walk.

Game two started with a scoreless first inning, but the Lakers crossed home in each of the final five frames to enact the mercy rule after the sixth.

Oistad hit a two-run homer in the third to give the Lakers a 3-0 lead after Kulik got DL on the board in the second inning on a Logan Lund RBI single.

The Lakers added four runs in the fourth to take a seven-run lead.

Grady Kirchner scored on a Henderson sacrifice fly; Tanner Brend scored on a Trevor Schnathorst single; Oistad singled to plate Tucker and Schnathorst scored on an error.

Kulik and Brend added runs in the fifth. Schnathorst, Mason Omberg and Thomas ended the game with runs in the sixth.

Oistad had his second three-hit game of the series with a run and four RBI.

Brend was 3-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Schnathorst and Kulik had two hits each and combined for five runs.

Swiers pitched a complete game, fanning six, walking two and allowing just the two runs; 60 of his 88 pitches were strikes.

Thief River Falls lost for the fifth consecutive game falling to 7-9.

The Lakers improved to 16-2 and have not lost since April 23 to ROCORI and Sartell-St. Stephen in a road doubleheader.

Those two teams met in Sartell Thursday with ROCORI muddling the section playoff scenario in a 5-3 victory. The Spartans (10-6) scored five runs in the first inning and got a complete game from starter Nick Howen. The loss was only the third in 17 games for the Sabres.
