The Detroit Lakes 10UB girls hockey team showed a vast improvement this season earning 11 victories and a runner-up finish at the District 15 tournament.
The Lakers ended the season winning three of their five tournament games defeating Alexandria in double overtime to start the run and picked up wins over Moorhead 6-4 and Northern Lakes 4-2.
Head coach Darrin Franco acknowledged the development of the team over the five-month season.
“They not only learned how to play the game of hockey but how to work hard, how to take care of friends and be a better team player,” he said. “They all developed both on and off the ice in a positive way.”
The Lakers are a very young team with many of the players at the U8 level and were coming off a season of only three wins last year.
