The Detroit Lakes boys' basketball team was on each end of blowouts Friday and Saturday, as they took care of business in Wadena-Deer Creek 70-47, but fell to the talented Perham Yellowjackets Saturday 64-41.
The Lakers ended last week at .500 with a 9-9 record, after they bolted out to a 24-9 lead over the Wolverines (4-14), as the bench was emptied by the end of the game.
"Ryan Cihak and Nick Groth each shot the ball well and we were able to take control early," said DL head coach Robb Flint.
Cihak led the way with 17 points by going 3-5 from three-point land, while Groth and senior Derek Long had 10 points each.
Senior guard Kirk McLeod added 11 points and sophomore Christian Hedstrom 13 points.

The Lakers went an outstanding 16-17 from the free throw line, as well.
Perham (14-5) proved to be too strong defensively Saturday inside Ralph Anderson Gym, as they went 5-6 from beyond the three-point arc.
"They shot the ball well, because most of those three's were contested," Flint said. "We didn't shoot well, at all, and Perham came down with most of the defensive rebounds."
The Lakers shot 35 percent from the field, including 4-22 (18 percent) from three-point territory.
McLeod had 12 points in the loss and Long 10.
"We knew they play good defense and I think we got too conservative against them," Flint said.
The Lakers are currently in fourth place in the Section 8-3A standings and have a chance to catch Thief River Falls, if they can beat the Prowlers (13-5) Tuesday inside Anderson Gym.
"That's a big game, because if we can get a win there, we potentially can move up to the third seed," Flint said. "Everyone is improving on the team, we are just inconsistent game in and game out."
