Traveling south to Detroit Lakes, the Red Lake Falls boys' hockey team got to see the usual sights, such as the snow, frozen lakes and the Kent Freeman Arena ice.
One sight the Eagles didn't have the opportunity to visit, or see much of for that matter, was the Laker net and goalie MacKenzie Steele.
The Lakers throttled Red Lake Falls by limiting the visitors to just seven shots on net, while lambasting the Eagles' goal 60 times, in a convincing 5-0 win Thursday evening.
All five of the Lakers goals came in the second period, where they had 25 shots on net, which proceeded 20 shots on goal in the first period.
It was a power play opportunity which started the scoring barrage, as Taylor Johnson scored on assists by Michael Herrmann and Austin Rusness.

That was 1:17 into the second, with the faucet coming on full blast with goals by defenseman Dylan Bremseth 1:25 later.
The 2-0 margin inflated more on a shorthanded goal by Ryan Deconcini, with Jacob Fritz hitting nylon soon after.
Deconcini capped the game's scoring for the 5-0 edge. Assists on the night went to Rusness (2), Johnson (2), Joe Solberg (2), Fritz, Herrmann and Brady Crawford.
Steele had a quiet night, saving all seven of the Eagles' tries.
The Lakers improve to 9-12-1 and will travel to Park Rapids (13-7-3) Tuesday for the final Mid-State Conference game of the season.
DL closes out the regular season schedule Thursday at home against Little Falls (13-7) for a 7 p.m. start.
