The team portion of the season ended for the Detroit Lakes girls' tennis, after losing 7-0 to Bemidji in the first round of the Section 8-1A playoffs Friday in Sartell.
The No. 7 Lakers were swept in each of their singles and doubles matches by the talented No. 2 Lumberjack squad.
Bemidji moved on to beat No. 3 Alexandria in the quarterfinals 4-3, but fell to the South's No. 1 seeded St. Cloud Tech 4-3.
The North's top-seeded Brainerd toppled St. Cloud Tech in the finals 4-3, to move onto the Class 1A state meet.
The Lakers will play their individual portion of the section tournament starting Friday in Sartell.

Katie Anderson will face Sheena Lee of Thief River Falls at 3 p.m. and India Fritz will play Bemidji's Jessica Solberg at 1:30 p.m.
In doubles action, Brianna Seebold and Whitney Benscoter will face TRF's Kaylee Koop and Sabrina Okeson, while Emily Seebold and Laurenn Johnson will team up to play Fergus Falls' Carly Ouren and Sarah Bowman.
Unruh places third in youth tennis tournament
Detroit Lakes' Ben Unruh placed third in the 12 and under singles at the USTA's Cretin-Derham Hall tennis tournament in St. Paul Saturday.
