The Laker Swimming and Diving team placed second in a field of 10 teams at the Section 8A Championship meet and recorded four individual section titles form three swimmers.
Kaitlyn Peterson led Detroit Lakes with a pair of section championship swims. Peterson turned in a personal best time of 1:58.88, out-touching a virtual Grand Rapids competitor by .10 seconds. Her time was 0.03 seconds from breaking the school and pool record at the DLCCC.
The section meet was held virtually with teams separated at three different venues.
“I'm very proud of this Laker team who weren't sure if they'd even have a Section meet,” DL head coach Carol Fischer said. “From day one, they took on the challenge of the unknown, and Saturday they came to race and did so very well.”
