The Detroit Lakes swimming and diving team won their second consecutive meet to open the season defeating Staples-Motley 134-49 on road Thursday.
"Great meet to start our dual season,” head coach Carol McCarthy said. “We had a full JV and varsity line-up, something that has never happened before. The swimmers and divers were in great form for this time of the season. Of course we always have more conditioning and technique work at this point but the girls' positive energy was awesome.”
The Lakers posted wins in every event but one, the 100-backstroke won by the Cardinals’ Emily Veronen.
Jennifer Tracy picked up two wins in the 200 and 500-freestyle.
DL took the top three spots in four individual events: diving, the 100-butterfly, the 100-freestyle and the 100-backstroke.

The Lakers swept all three relay races in a dominating victory.
The road trip continues for the swim team at Crookston Thursday, Sept. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
