DL wrestlers post two more duals wins at Hibbing

All 14 matches between Detroit Lakes and Virginia Area end in falls.

Detroit Lakes defeated Hibbing and Virginia Area in a sweep of both duals Tuesday at Hibbing high school.

The Lakers improved to 18-2 on the season and have won the past eight duals in a row.

DL defeated Virginia Area 54-30. All 14 matches ended in pins.

Virginia opened with three straight falls, but the Lakers responded with pins from Tyson Ullyott, Bradly Swiers and Cade Jackson to even the match.

Damian Rabio of Virginia pinned DL’s Clint Andresen at 145, but Brody Ullyott responded with a 65-second stick of Tristan Peterson for a 24-all tie.

Miigwen Tuchel pinned the Lakers’ Garett Nelson for the final Virginia points as the Lakers swept the final five matches to turn a close dual into a blowout.

Thad Schlauderaff (170), Blaine Henderson (182), Henry Lee (195), Jeffrey Moen (220) and Andreas Barnett (285) put the match away in dominant fashion.

Henderson and Moen made quick work of their opponents needing only 33 seconds and 29 seconds, respectively.

Schlauderaff, Henderson and Barnett took care of their matches in the first period.

The Lakers clobbered an incomplete Hibbing lineup 57-19.

Hibbing picked up pins at 106 and 113 pounds, but forfeited four of the next five weights and at heavyweight.

Cade Jackson scored a 37-second pin of Preston Thronson. Henderson, Lee and Moen all picked up their second pin of the night. Schlauderaff defeated Thomas Hagen in a 9-7 decision.

Hibbing’s No. 6AA ranked 145-pounder David Platt wrestled up at 152 and handed DL’s Brody Ullyott only his second loss of the season, a 6-3 decision. Ullyott is currently ranked No. 3 at 152.
