DLHS to host 36th annual National Girls and Women in Sports breakfast on Feb. 2

Keynote speaker Kyley Foster will speak at the Detroit Lakes High School NGWSD celebration.

On Feb. 2, Detroit Lakes High School welcomes all high school girls athletes and varsity athletes in seventh and eighth grade to the commons area for the 36th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

“This celebration is held to inspire girls to play sports, be active and to realize their full potential to achieve great things,” former Detroit Lakes girls basketball coach Mike Labine said. “I was the head girls coach in Detroit Lakes for almost 30 years, and I am so grateful for the opportunities that I had to coach some very amazing young ladies.”

The celebration begins at 7 a.m., with a pancake breakfast served at 7:15. Keynote speaker Kyley Foster will give a presentation at 7:30, while activities director Rob Nielsen and principal Josh Omang man the griddle.
