Detroit Lakes captured the eighth-grade championship among 10 teams at the 2019 Pacesetter Minnesota Youth Volleyball state tournament.

The Lakers defeated Pequot Lakes 25-18, 25-23 in the championship match Sunday, Nov. 3, at Monticello.

DL topped Paynesville 25-21, 25-17 in the quarterfinals and Plainview-Elgin-Millville 25-14, 25-16 in the semifinals.

Detroit Lakes players are Ava Jones, Grace Gunderson, Brooke Geerdes, Helena Daggett, Rylee Johnson, Clara Robin, Bailey Lindblad, and Ella Okeson. Their coach is Bridget Penton.
