Lakes Area Boxing hosted 19 amateur Golden Gloves boxing matches last weekend with each fight bringing a different kind of energy to Ralph Anderson gymnasium.
The fights ranged from eight-year-old, 60-pound bouts to the Region 4 Golden Gloves Boxing semifinals.
LAB had seven fighters competing.
"I am proud of our team the way they represented Detroit Lakes and the Lakes Area Boxing team,” LAB coach Chris Holt said. “They all worked hard in the gym to get ready to showcase in DL. They all wanted to do their best in their hometown to show everyone the skills they have learned since walking in the doors. We don't have many boxing matches in DL but with the support of the community I believe that the community will want more Golden Gloves action to happen in the Detroit Lakes area.”
LAB’s Quintin Hedlund lost a close match to Leech Lake's Xavier Jackson.
