Midwest Red District football awards

Detroit Lakes swept all seven Midwest Red district games this season on the way to a perfect 8-0 regular season and took home the majority of the postseason awards.

Noah Olds was named the Red Sub-district Defensive Lineman of the Year winner. His linemate Charles Barnett was named the Offensive Lineman of the Year.

The Offensive Back of the Year award was no surprise, going to Isaiah Thompson.

Thompson shared the Player of the Year award with Perham quarterback Jenson Beachy. Beachy was also named the Quarterback of the Year.

Perham’s Colton Hackel, and DL’s Reed Mace shared the Specialist of the year award.

Laker head coach Josh Omang took home the Coach of the Year award.

Other winners named were: Dylin Ackerman of Pequot Lakes as the Defensive Back of the Year; Linebacker of the Year was Zach Peterson of Perham and Pequot Lakes’ Bode Magnuson as the receiver of the year.

Six Lakers were named to the All-District team: Thompson, Olds, Barnett, Jake Bettcher, Brady Morris and Reed Reller. Receiving honorable mention were: Mace, Gabe Hanninen, Jackson Fields and Sully Wood. Twenty Lakers were on the All-Academic list for the district.
