GLYNDON - The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton football team begins its season in eight days and the Rebels head football coach is in limbo.
The D-G-F school board announced Monday evening it was not renewing the contract of head coach Anthony Soderberg.
School board chair Lindsay Leach said that Soderberg lacked "collaboration with his assistant coaches and it was detrimental to the players." The vote was 5-0 to not renew Soderberg's contract.
Soderberg has coached the Rebels since 2008, leading them to four straight section titles from 2013-16, which included back to back state semifinal appearances. D-G-F lost in the Section 8AAA title game 21-20 to Perham last season.
The Rebels have been practicing since last Monday and sources tell WDAY Sports that Soderberg has been leading the team this entire time.
There’s a meeting scheduled for Friday between the school board and Soderberg where a source tells Dom Izzo they expect the decision to be reversed - and Soderberg’s contract to be renewed.
Attempts to reach Soderberg and DGF athletic director Joe O'Keefe were unsuccessful.
