Foth and Kuhn to battle for Pine to Palm hardware

Jackson Foth of Kansas and two-time Pine to Palm champion Rick Kuhn will duel for the championship trophy at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12 at Detroit Country Club in Detroit Lakes.

Foth never trailed in his semifinal match against Lucas Johnson leading by 3-up at the turn and hanging on late as Johnson closed to 1-down at 16. Both players had putts lip out on 17 to halve and ended with a halve of the final hole.


Foth is making his first and likely last appearance in the championship final as his future plans center on turning professional in the coming year.

Kuhn built a 5-up lead by hole No. 10 over Waconia high school senior Connor Glynn before Glynn charged back winning holes 12-15 to close to 1-down.

Kuhn answered with a win at hole 16 to put the match away on the par 3, 17th in a 2&1 victory.

The former University of Minnesota Golden Gopher is trying to be the first player to win a Pine to Palm championship in three different decades.

His two titles came in 1991 and 2005.
