Laker girls wrap busy week with another win

Shelby Busker won by six shots and was one of three Lakers in the top four as the Detroit Lakes girls golf team defeated 10 teams at the Ottertail Central Invite, Pebble Lake Golf Course, Fergus Falls, Friday, May 17

The Lakers combined for a team score of 316 to defeat Brainerd by seven strokes. Bemidji placed third with a 339.

DL captains recorded the two lowest rounds of the day.

Busker was the lone golfer under par carding a 1-under 71 to finish six strokes ahead of teammate Anna Cihak in second place with a 77. Brainerd’s Anna Krieger shot a 77 for third place, one stroke better than DL’s McKenna Mallow in fourth place (78).

The other three Lakers all finished within two strokes of each other. McKenna Burhans shot a 90 to complete the DL team score. Evan Westrum (91) and Hanna Knoop (92) rounded out the winning effort.

The meet completed a week of three contests in five days. The Lakers won two of three meets, with a second place finish and Cihak and Busker were atop the leaderboard at each venue.

DL wraps up the regular season with the only home meet of the season at Detroit Country Club Tuesday, May 21 beginning at 1 p.m.
