Detroit Lakes’ McKenna Mallow finished in the top 10 of her age bracket at the Minnesota Girls Junior PGA Championship played at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City June 19-20.

Mallow shot matching rounds of 87 on the par 71 course in two days of stroke play to place ninth overall in the 13-15 age division.

Isabella McCauley of Inver Grove Heights shot the best round of the tournament in either bracket with a 1-under-par 141 (70-71).

The 16-18 bracket was a repeat battle between Red Wing teammates Sophia Yoemans and Leah Herzog. Yoemans, a three-time state champion, won by a stroke with rounds of 73 and 70 (143). Herzog rallied from a first round 76 (+5) to post a 68 on day two to finish a shot back with 144.

McCauley and Yoemans qualified to join over 144 of the nation's top junior golfers at the  National Girls Junior PGA Championship that will be held at Keney Park GC in Hartford, Connecticut July 9-12.
