The Waubun girls' basketball team didn't have many chances to put the ball in the bucket against visiting Fosston Thursday and when those opportunities arose, the Bombers' shots were not dropping.
A low shooting percentage, along with a dominating Fosston rebounding game, doomed the Bombers to a 66-44 loss, thus dropping the Big Blue to 10-5 on the season.
"Fosston is a dangerous team and we got their best effort tonight," said Waubun head coach Jason McCloskey. "They controlled the rebounds and we were not shooting well, which is not typical of our team."
The Greyhounds forced one-and-done possessions by the Bombers, while controlling the paint on the other side of the floor to create their own high-percentage shots.
Fosston was also hitting their perimeter shots, which in turn, loosened up the middle.

Guard Alyssa Schmidt netted 20 points for the Greyhounds, while Amanda Tesch had 15, which more than several points coming off an effective transition game.
"Fosston was hustling and got a few breakaway baskets on us," McCloskey said. "This was just an average game for us and Fosston played well."
Waubun didn't go quietly, as sophomore guard Jenna Lundon scored 16 points, as the Bombers made a rally late in the first half after falling down 26-13.
Junior post Mareena LaRoque grabbed one of few offensive rebounds for Waubun for a putback.
Fosston answered, though, with a Tesch three pointer to up the lead to 29-15 with 3:16 left to halftime.
Lundon struck for three on the next possession, then drained a running shot through the lane to clip the deficit to 29-20.
A turnover by the Greyhounds led to a nice assist by Lundon to LaRoque, as Waubun crawled to within seven points.
But a couple of trips to the free throw line for Fosston, as well as a nice slashing layup by Schmidt, put the visitors back up by 11 at 33-24.

Schmidt finished off the half with a another driving banker to give the Greyhounds a 35-24 halftime lead.
A three pointer by Lundon from the top of the key slashed the Waubun deficit under double digits 37-29 early in the second half, but Fosston wouldn't let the Bombers get any closer than nine points the rest of the way.
"I thought we had a good initial shot, but they just were not falling for us," McCloskey said.
Fosston (7-9) also kept Waubun's next two leading scorers under wrap, as Tracee Winter notched a respectable 10 points and Erin Jasken to six.
Waubun will host Norman County East (16-3) Tuesday and try and snap the Eagles 11-game winning streak.
