Growth of the Game Celebration of Golf returns

Annual scramble and youth clinic to be held at Lakeview Golf Course June 11-12.

The Growth of the Game youth clinic will be held Saturday, June 15 at Lakeview Golf Course free of charge to area youth interested in learning more about golf. Lakeview will also host the Growth of the Game Open Friday, June 14. Robert Williams / Tribune

Growth of the Game at Lakeview’s “Celebration of Golf” weekend is returning this year after a 1-year hiatus due to Covid-19.

The event includes a scramble, youth clinic and other activities June 11-12.

Friday, June 11 Growth of the Game Scramble.

This is an annual tournament that supports the Detroit Lakes Girls and Boys golf programs in Detroit Lakes.

time is 5 p.m., $40/person or $100 for a team of 3 to 4.

Each team will be paired with a Laker Girl or Boy golfer.

This is a 4-5 person modified scramble.

There is a meal before starting at 4:30 p.m. (tacos, nachos, taco salad), Great North Pizza after, a door prize for playing and prizes afterwards.

Saturday, June 1 2 – FREE Youth Clinic sponsored by Pro Resources

9-10 a.m. – Adaptive Clinic on the Driving Range for any individuals with physical or mental challenges. No registration is necessary.

10 a.m.-noon – Youth Clinic (ages 4-15) No registration is necessary, just show up any time between 10am–11:30am.

  • Girls & Boys Drive, Chip & Putt contests for different age groups. Come out and see what the national contest is all about and try out this fun format. $20 Dairy Queen gift cards will be given away.

  • Free food from Burger King, popcorn, freezes.

  • Face Painting & huge inflatables on the range, Golfzilla and Hittopatumus.

  • All participants will get a free Growth of the Game backpack, compliments of Pro Resources.

  • Music provided by the KDLM/Leighton Broadcasting Boom Box.
