Okeson leads Lakers over Park Rapids

Detroit Lakes scored at least 147 points for the second straight meet defeating Park Rapids 147.9 to 118.425 in a gymnastics dual at the Minnesota Flyers Gymnasium Tuesday, Dec. 4.

The Lakers held the top five finishes in all four events led by all-around winner Cora Okeson.

Okeson scored 37.425 and placed first on vault (9.55), floor exercise (9.55) and uneven parallel bars (9.4).


Ellie Hultin placed second in the all-around with a score of 35.2.

Justine Lawrence scored 9.4 to grab first place on balance beam.

Jackson Hegg had a pair of silver medal performances scoring 9.35 to tie with Lawrence on bars and a 9.45 to finish behind only Okeson on floor.

Peyton Jernberg and Lexi Yliniemi tied for second place on vault with matching scores of 9.45. Jernberg added a a 9.15 score on beam to finish behind Lawrence in second place.

The DL junior varsity won big 128.9 to 24.3 behind Skylar Nelson’s all-around victory with a score of 31.9.
