Gymnasts head to the postseason after home victory over Moorhead

Detroit Lakes swept all four events, led by all around winner Jerzie Horner, in a 135.65-124.45 gymnastics victory over Moorhead Tuesday at the Minnesota Flyers Gymnasium.

Horner picked up three of the event wins scoring first place numbers 9.35 on vault, 9.0 on bars and 9.175 on beam. Her vault score was the top mark awarded.

Taryn Wendt completed the Laker sweep with a 9.2 winning floor exercise routine. Horner was second with a 9.15 to complete her all around victory (36.675).

Elsie Ratz was third in the all around scoring 32.2.

Detroit Lakes had the top three marks on bars and beam.

Ava Morrison (8.0) and Jordan Ehnert (7.95) were second and third behind Horner on bars.

Wendt (8.35) and Hope Hamm (8.025) placed behind Horner on the balance beam.

The Lakers will spend the next two weeks preparing for the Section 8A Championships, which will be held Saturday, March 20 in Melrose.
