During the Minnesota Muzzleloader deer season, Hamden Slough National Wildlife Refuge will be open to public hunting for deer with legal muzzleloader in accordance with State law. The public will be allowed to hunt for deer with Muzzleloader from Nov. 27 to Dec. 12, 2010. Hunters must be in accordance with state season and license requirements. In addition to the State laws the following Federal rules will be enforced.
- Parking is permitted in designated areas only as shown on refuge maps.
- The use of motorized vehicles is prohibited, except in designated parking areas. All service roads and interior trails are closed to all motorized vehicles.
- Camping and overnight parking is not allowed.
- The use of nails, wire, screws or bolts to attach a stand to a tree, or hunting from a tree, into which a metal object has been driven or screwed to support a hunter, is prohibited. Portable or temporary hunting blinds or stands can only be set up the day of the hunt, and must be removed at the end of each day.
- Any hunting equipment brought onto Hamden Refuge must be removed after each day.
- The use or possession of alcoholic beverages while hunting is prohibited.
- The destruction, defacement, disturbance, or unauthorized removal of any natural object or government property is prohibited.
- Disposing of animal carcasses, trash, refuse, rocks, wood, or other debris is prohibited.
- Cutting, moving, sawing, digging, collecting, injuring, or removing vegetation is prohibited.
- Distribution of feed or bait, or hunting over bait is prohibited.
