Laker girls shut out at Prairie Centre
The Prairie Centre Blue Devils scored a goal in each period and held Detroit Lakes off the scoreboard in a 3-0 Mid-State Conference girls hockey victory Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Wadena Ice Arena.
All three Devils’ goals came at even strength and senior center Kylee Hopp figured in each tally.
Hopp scored unassisted at six-minutes, 28-seconds of the first period. She set up Shelby Otte at 3:58 of the second period and scored the final goal less than four minutes into the third period off an assist by Nora Elmes.
Only three penalties were called in the game. DL was 0-2 on the power play; the Devils were 0-1.
Isabelle Hovel earned the victory turning away 28 Laker shots.
Kyndra McDougall took the loss in net making 16 saves.
Prairie Centre snapped a two-game skid to improve to 3-5 overall and are 2-0 in conference play. The Blue Devils host Crookston (1-3-1) Saturday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m., in Wadena.
Detroit Lakes dropped to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-State. The Lakers return home Saturday, Dec. 8 for a 1 p.m. title with state-ranked No. 7 Thief River Falls in Section 8A play. The Prowlers are 8-2 and have won four straight games.
