Lumberjack senior Eva Latuiri scored two goals and Bemidji held Detroit Lakes to seven shots on goal in a 5-0 shutout at Kent Freeman Arena to sweep the season series from the Lakers Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Latuiri was one of four Lumberjacks to finish with multi-point nights. Lexi Leitner (1G, 2A) and Becca Josefson (3A) each tallied three points to lead the team while Latuiri (2G) and Gracie Fisher (1G, 1A) contributed two each.
Goalie Nettie Kimble backed up the scoring attack by turning aside all seven shots she faced to claim the shutout victory.
Leitner opened the scoring with the eventual game-winner at the 2:32 mark of the first period.
Leah Honer was busy in net for the Lakers making 36 saves.
The win returned Bemidji to .500 on the season with a 10-10 overall record with five games to go before the Section 8AA playoffs commence.
Bemidji defeated Detroit Lakes twice this season without allowing a goal. The Jacks won on home ice 6-0 in late November.
Detroit Lakes (3-16) has four games remaining before the start of the Section 8A playoffs after a 9-1 loss at Moorhead Thursday, Jan. 23. Emma Coley had the Laker goal.
