The Detroit Lakes girls hockey team announced season awards this week.
The Lakers continued a standard of excellence in the classroom. Detroit Lakes was named the Section 8A team academic champions and the Class A state academic champions with a cumulative grade point average of 3.968.
This is the second straight year the Lakers have been state academic champions.

Four Lakers were named to the Mid-State All-Conference team: senior forward Madyson Melgard, junior defenseman McKenna Burhans, sophomore forward Emma Coley and junior goalie Leah Honer.
Senior defensemen Sara Freeman and Payton Schiltz earned honorable mention.
Freeman, Melgard and Schiltz were academic all-state award winners.
