The Detroit Lakes girls hockey team opened the season on the road in a 4-0 loss to the Otters at Community Arena in Fergus Falls Tuesday night.

Fergus Falls peppered the Lakers with 52 shots and scored three first period goals to take control early. The Otters put 23 shots on net in the first period to just one by DL.

Ellie Anderson opened the scoring three minutes into the game, followed by tallies from Piper Andrews and Desirae Maack, all even strength goals.

Andrews notched her second of the game on the power play late in the second period.

The Lakers were 0-4 on the power play; Fergus Falls was 1-3.

DL had 10 shots on goal in the game.

Ana Jyrkas picked up the shutout in net for the home team.

Leah Honer was busy in the DL crease making 48 saves.

The Lakers (0-1) continue a three-game road trip to start the season at International Falls (0-2) Friday, Jan. 22. The Broncos were defeated 6-3 at home by North Shore and at Crookston 6-0.
