Senior Braeden Wimmer and junior Spencer Bergman recorded 5-point nights as the Lakers put a snowman up at Prairie Centre 8-3 in non-conference boys hockey Thursday, Jan. 21 in Sauk Centre.

The Detroit Lakes offense got into the zone quickly and stayed there for much of the first period. Bergman notched his first of four goals from a tough angle near the end line left side of the net just 68 seconds into play. Jordan Fields assisted on the marker.

The Northstars’ Jesse Williams tied the game on his first career varsity goal - a shot from the right point through traffic that got by a screened Elijah Blow in the Laker crease less than two minutes later.

On the ensuing shift, Williams left the game with a leg injury and did not return.

The Lakers killed off a hooking penalty to Lukas Justesen on the injury play and Bergman went back to the same spot deep side left of the net scoring again at an obtuse angle for a 2-1 DL lead seven minutes into the period.

Wimmer assisted on the play, the first of his four helpers in the game.

The Lakers went to intermission up 3-1 on a late goal.

Fritz drove down the right wing with Ben Hines crashing the net and fired a shot top shelf, sending the goalie's water bottle bounding to the ice surface.

DL killed off a boarding major to Jordan Fields early in the second period.

On the power play, Wimmer set up Bergman in the slot for the hat trick with a perfect pass to Bergman’s stick and the deflection.

Wimmer kept creating chances from the blue line. He drove a shot at the net and Jake Green found the rebound and stuffed it home.

Bergman’s fourth goal made it 6-1, set up again by Wimmer's drive from the point.

Eli Fletcher scored with 9-seconds left in the period. DL led 6-2

Jacob McAllister punched in a rebound off a backhand by Carter Bellefeuille 9-seconds into the third period.

A Wimmer wrister from between the circles started running time on the clock with the score 8-2 at 4:12.

Fletcher netted his second of the game to complete the scoring at the 12-minute mark.

Blow notched his first win of the season in goal making 15 saves.

Fields (3A), Bellefeuille (2A) and McAllister (1G, 1A) all had multi-point games.

The Lakers put 46 shots on PC goalie Joe Nedoroscik.
