A pair of first period goals 90 seconds apart comprised all of the scoring in a 2-0 Fergus Falls girls hockey victory over the Lakers at Kent Freeman Arena Saturday afternoon.
Otter junior Jadyn Bye and sophomore Maddie Hulter each contributed to both goals.
Bye had the game winner, Hulter the primary assist with help from Ellie Anderson.
Halter had the second goal with the lone assist to Bye.
Fergus Falls dominated play and attack zone time putting 40 shots on Laker senior goalie Leah Honer.
Lexi Metcalf, the Otters’ freshman netminder, turned aside all 14 DL shots, including a pair of late opportunistic rushes at the visiting net by DL junior forward Emma Coley.
The victory evens Fergus Falls’ record at 4-4-1 and the Otters have won 11 consecutive games against the Lakers since DL’s last win in 2015.
Detroit Lakes has lost three straight games to drop to a 4-4 overall mark heading into a Section 8A contest at Thief River Falls (4-3) Monday, Feb. 15.
The Prowlers are another team holding a lengthy streak over DL. Thief River Falls has won the past 27 meetings dating back to a 3-2 Laker home victory in 2006.
Earlier this season, DL snapped a 24-game skid at East Grand Forks.
