Detroit Lakes was held off the scoresheet for the second straight game and loss for a third consecutive girls hockey game at Thief River Falls Monday night by a score of 3-0 at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

The Prowlers to scoring duo of Shelby Breiland and Jenae Johnson combined for single goals in the first and second periods.

Breiland scored both goals with Johnson getting the only assists on the plays.

Breiland has a team-high 15 points, nine goals and six assists. Johnson has a pair of goals to go with a team best nine helpers.

Shots were 33-10 in favor of the Prowlers after two periods but Detroit Lakes was still in the game.

Thief River Falls held DL to just four shots in the third period and finished the game with a 46-14 advantage.

Kali Knutson scored the final goal of the game unassisted.

After a 4-1 start to the season and a four-game win streak, DL has dropped the past four games to fall to 4-5 overall.

Thief River Falls has separated from the bottom three teams in Section 8A and holds second place at 5-3 overall, behind Warroad (7-1). The Warriors have the No. 1 QRF ranking in Class A.

Detroit Lakes begins a three-game home stand against International Falls (0-8), Northern Lakes (2-6) and Morris Area (0-4) on Friday, Feb. 19. The Lakers have victories over I-Falls and the Lightning already this year. The meeting with Morris is the first of two in a week.
