Hoge, van Rooyen in the hunt at Valero Texas Open

Former Pine to Palm golfers in Sunday contention in San Antonio.

Former Pine to Palm champion Tom Hoge jumped into contention shooting a 6-under 66 in the third round of the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio Saturday, April 3.

Hoge birdied half the course in the round , including five straight on holes 5 through 9.

Hoge joined Gary Woodland, Lucas Glover and Matt Kuchar all tied for sixth place at 6 under.

Co-leader Matt Wallace is chasing his first career PGA Tour victory and is tied with Texas native Jordan Spieth at 12 under par.

Erik Van Rooyen, the 2011 Pine to Palm medalist, is also in the top 10.

Hoge was the champion at Detroit Country Club in 2009 and the 2010 medalist and runner-up.
