Three Hornets scored in double figures to lead Frazee over Wadena-Deer Creek in Frazee Tuesday night.

The Hornets were in command early taking a 43-18 lead at halftime after breaking a 14-all tie with 11 minutes to go.

The Hornets went on a 29-3 run to end the half.

“After the slow start, we played very well offensively and had a lot of different girls contribute,” Hornet head coach Dave Conzemius said.

Josi Tappe led Frazee with 16 points, 13 in the first half. Katie Smith scored 14 points; Whitney Janu added 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Smith was 5-5 from the field and 4-5 from the line.

“Katie Smith gave us a nice spark to get us going. Whitney Janu also did a nice job on the boards and played with a lot of energy.”

Frazee has won three straight games to push a game over .500 at 5-4 overall.

The Wolverines are searching for their first victory of the season, currently winless in seven games.

Frazee will host Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal (5-6) Monday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
