In their season opener Dec. 1, against Breckenridge, the Frazee Lady Hornets came up short as the Cowgirls made more plays down the stretch to earn a one-point victory.
Thursday night in Frazee, the Lady Hornets turned the tide on Breckenridge, holding the Cowgirls scoreless over the last six minutes to earn a 36-30 Heart O'Lakes conference victory.
This was a much needed victory for our team tonight," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "We showed a lot of character by hanging in there on a night when our shots wouldn't drop."
The game was close the whole way with neither team holding more than a three-point lead until Frazee iced the game in the last 30 seconds on the free throw line.
The Lady Hornets (3-11 overall, 2-8 HOL) trailed 30-29 with six minutes left in the game.

The score remained the same until just less than three minutes left when freshmen Ashley Bachmann came up with the biggest shot of the game.
Bachmann came off of a screen and drilled a three-pointer to give Frazee back the lead for good.
The Cowgirls (2-9, 2-8 HOL) were unable to get off many good shots following the shot as the Lady Hornets half court trap forced Breckenridge into several turnovers and also forced the Cowgirls to rush their shots.
"Our defense was the difference tonight," Conzemius said. "We didn't allow them to run their offense and we tipped many passes that led to 26 turnovers for them. We also rebounded much better, which is something we have really been struggling on."
Bachmann led the way for Frazee with 12 points and also added six rebounds.
Freshmen Alexis Tappe added nine points and had a team high five assists, while junior Sadie Stender came off the bench to grab a team eight rebounds.
"All of the kids stepped up and made plays tonight," Conzemius added. "We were diving for loose balls and played with a lot of intensity, especially in the second half."
The Lady Hornets are back in action Tuesday, Jan. 26, in Barnesville starting at 7:30 p.m.
