The Frazee Lady Hornets found a way to do what had eluded them early in the season Tuesday night in Frazee -- upset Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.

Frazee finished the game strong to shock second-place D-G-F 44-38 in Heart O'Lakes Conference basketball.

"This was an outstanding win over a quality opponent," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "We let a couple of these slip away early in the season, but we learned from those losses and we were able to finish the game with confidence tonight."

The Lady Hornets (4-11 overall, 3-8 HOL) started slow, scoring only two points in the first eight minutes. Fortunately for Frazee, D-G-F (10-5 overall, 8-3 HOL) was also cold out of the gates as they could only muster six points in that time span.

"We felt good at that point, because our defense was solid and we knew that we were getting good shots at the basket," Conzemius said. "It just took awhile for some shots to go in."

When they shots did start to drop, the Lady Hornets rallied to tie the score at 14-14, before going down at halftime 18-15.

The second half was back and forth until Frazee made a key run late in the game.

Trailing 34-31, the Lady Hornets came out of time-out and responded with an 11-1 run which was spurred by a basket by junior Chloe Streeper and two 3-pointers from freshmen Alexis Tappe.

From there, sophomore McKinzie Tangen iced the game hitting four consecutive free throws in the last minute.

"It was great to see the composure we played with at the end," Conzemius added. "Alexis hit a couple of big shots and it was nice to see McKinzie knock down some pressure free throws after struggling in our last game."

Freshmen Ashley Bachmann led the way for Frazee with 16 points which included four 3-pointers. Tangen added 13 points including a 7-for-8 effort from the line and Tappe chipped in with nine points.

Frazee returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 26 when they travel Barnesville to play the Lady Trojans in the first game of a boy/girl doubleheader at 6:30.
