Laker girls shut out Blue Devils

Having been on the receiving end of nine shutouts this year, the Detroit Lakes girls hockey team turned the tables blanking Prairie Centre on the road 2-0 to finish the regular season with a victory.

After two scoreless periods, Sydney Haus scored the game-winner three minutes into the third period on a Haley Stattelman assist.

That was all the offense goalie Leah Honer needed. She made 27 saves to record the shutout in net

The Lakers put 38 shots on Blue Devil goalie Kennedy Lemke.

Madyson Melgard added an insurance goal scoring her team-leading 10th tally of the season.

Prairie Centre finished the regular season with a mark of 4-16-2.

Detroit Lakes snapped a nine-game skid to improve to 4-19 overall.

The No. 5 Lakers will open the Section 8A playoffs at No. 4 Crookston (9-13) Thursday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. The winner faces No. 1 Warroad in Thief River Falls Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m.
