The Detroit Lakes boys' swimming and diving team put in a dominating performance against visiting Park Rapids Tuesday inside the BTD Aquatics Center.
The Lakers won every event -- except the 400 freestyle relay in which they ran as an exhibition -- against their Mid-State Conference rival, winning the meet 82-51.
More importantly, DL head coach Rian Heimark discovered some uncovered gems along the way to the Laker's win.
"I mixed it up a bit and put some guys in new events," Heimark said. "First, our goal was to win every event and the meet, but I saw some performances in which we can use for the sections."
One of those events came in the 100 breaststroke, where Cody Johnson won with a time of 1:11.82.

"That's the first time Cody swam the breaststroke and his 1:11 time is a strong one," Heimark said. "He also won the 200 IM (2:31.20), so it's good to see him use his opportunities to win some events."
Brandon Olson won each the 500 and 200 freestyle races, while Travis King was victorious in the 50 freestyle (25.22) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.3).
Heimark is still switching up the relays, with solid performances from each foursome Tuesday.
The Lakers are also preparing to host the Section 8 True Team meet, which is Saturday inside the BTD Aquatics Center.
Diving starts at 10 a.m. and swimming will start after, approximately around noon or 1 p.m.
All the section teams but one will compete, so it's a good opportunity to scout for the Section 8-1A meet, which is in February.
"We are looking to be in the top four in the True Team meet," Heimark said. "Most of the guys will swim their events Saturday that they will in the Section meet in February."
